Drove the beast to work today
For only the second time this year I drove my Rover P4. Its a lovely old car, but needs a bit of attention at the moment.
Main problems are the windows in the front don't wind up and down properly which is a right pain, and on the drivers (left) door the door release doesn't work on the inside very often (read never unless the day has a Z in it) and so I have to wind down the window and let myself out via the outside handle. Given the poor winder this is awful and puts me off driving it! It also needs a severe oil leak fixing so it doesn't use a pint of oil every time I drive it. Plus one rear spring has gone saggy, causing it to lean slightly to the left (maybe due to the overweight driver!).
I also need to service it, top up the overdrive, re-fit the trim to the passenger door, clean it, and do numerous other little things. Still, its fun! Here it is outside my friend Doug's house this morning when I went to wind the church clock.
If you look carefully you can just see the shell of a Morris Minor in Doug's drive, and another one under a tarpaulin. He's also got a bunch of "stinky engines" - one of which I own half of. Must get them out and running again soon.
