Beds and broken arms

Spent yesterday driving round the Cotswolds in a Transit van and dis-assembling and assembling beds in Bishopstone, Cheltenham and collecting a mattress from Bath.

Picked up the van from M4 Selfdrive in Swindon (very good service, simple hiring procedure and cheap at only £35 for the day). Mabel loved the van. Unfortunately I learned half way through the day that she had broken her arm the previous day.

First job was to load it with Martha's bed and Mabel's cot bed and then Martha and Huw and I drove to Cheltenham. We had a sandwich and drink on arrival at Olwen and Dave's (thanks very much for lunch) and took their double bunk apart and substituted it for Martha's bed. It took sometime putting Martha's bed back together as I didn't see how it had come apart and it was so long ago I'd put it together I couldn't remember it.

Eventually we set off for Bath across the Cotswold through various lovely Cotswold villages and towns. Traffic was appalling all the way and eventually we hit Bath at rush hour.

We found David's place very quickly and picked up an american size mattress from there to fit the double bunk. While at David's we met his Pug dog Pip and his 80+ year old tortoise which has been a resident of the garden there for many different owners over the years.

David showed us his lovely house and Huw was impressed by his daughters Gibson SG guitar. We took a CD of her band with us on the journey home, which was really good.
They have a myspace page which I'll find and post here.

The band is called Monty's Moped and you can find them here: http://www.myspace.com/montysmoped. Emma Roberts is David's daughter, and therefore my wife's cousin. So we may yet be related to someone famous!

So who is David? You implied he was famous.

BTW Bath is a nightmare for traffic at just about any time. Main reason why we didn't move there when we moved out west (that and the house prices are horrendous)

Take it easy.
