Pig Lung Stew
Igor took me to a local cafe for lunch again today. The menu meant nothing to me, as it was all in Slovenian. So upon examination Igor advised me that the choices were a Tripe Soup, Veal Snitzel or a stew of pigs lungs and potatoes.
I fancied the latter of these as I'm not terribly fond of tripe, you can get veal anywhere and I've never eaten lungs before.
So what was it like? Well actually very tasty. A sort of liver like taste. The texture was what got me. It was very spongy and full of big tube holes (I guess that's to be expected in the lungs!).
One of the things I like so much about seeing other places is experiencing the food. This was different, and I'm sure it would be pretty hard to find somewhere serving something like it in England.
Got me thinking - it would curry very well I am sure. ;-)

I would have held out for the 'squashed meatballs' personally.
