Coding Pirano

I have a feeling this could be a fairly long entry as I start to type up the day...

I'll keep the work stuff short. Coded a C# example of how to connect to a webservice for Igor. Walked him through it all. Tried Oracle APEX again - no joy - couldn't even get it to work with a simple webservice. (that took us 4 hours).

Next comes the interesting stuff. We had planned to spend the afternoon in Piran which is a beautiful old fishing port on the Adriatic Sea between Italy and Croatia. From one side of the town one can look out at Croatia and the other Italy. I took some pics of both on my cell phone, but the horizon is too far off.

We walked into the tiny town through the harbour. Lots of little local boats all moored up. The water full of fish swimming around.

This is the main square in the middle of town. Given that this is a tourist attraction I was surprised by just how empty the town was.

We walked up to the top of the town (where Polona - Igor's wife got lost when she was 3!) and looked down at the lovely old buildings.

This is Igor, my fantastic host who has started to show me around the lovely Slovenia.

Some views of the lovely Piran - Pirano.

For those watching my diet - we ate on the sea front (forgot to photo the food) and had grilled squid stuffed with ham and cheese. The best calamari I have ever had.

The evening ended back at Igor's appartment where I met his wife and children. His oldest daughter was a bit shy of me, but drew me a picture to take home. We sampled a couple of homemade spirits - some Gin with Juniper berries in and Brandy made with Honey. Lovely.

Later on I was supposed to meet some others in a bar, but it started to rain and I decided it was too far to walk as I had no coat. Sorry guys - next time - I promise.
