Web Cam

I've been playing with a webcam today - for vaguely work related ideas I've had.

I've been trying to figure out how we can embed video history for products into our software and wondered how easy it would be to stream raw video and sound content directly to the web.

Below is my first attempt and a pretty poor job it was. Nelson being the subject of my experiment. I also forgot to turn the cam off and think it may have been running while we had supper until the battery on my laptop ran out...

Later on I managed to stream real live video and sound to 3 friends in different parts of the world and they could all hear and see me which worked really well. I couldn't hear them and could only interact via Skype and MSN messenger typing. (I guess that's how those women on the other end of webcams interact with their punters....)

Now then, can we get web cams into fields to show animals grazing and pigs in mud for our friends making organic leather. I feel we are but a remote pc, some rechargeable batteries, a solar panel, an inverter and some decent directional Wifi Antennae away from that being possible... watch this space!
