New life, new hope

Odd that this should come through just as I register a birth. Sadly the day before Millie was born a fine chap called Terry Pepper died.

Terry was married to someone I have come to know over the past few years as one of the most amazing forces in the organic cotton movement LaRhea Pepper. Terry and LaRhea Pepper farm organic cotton in Texas and were some of the folks that really started the rise in status of Organic Cotton. LaRhea is now head of the Organic Exchange (http://www.organicexchange.org). She has helped me and my company a lot over the years and I really feel for her at her loss of her dear husband Terry. He was ill for a year or so with a brain tumour, and was actually not given very long to live, confounded all predictions and managed to hold on to life for much longer and live it to the full.

LaRhea sent out an email with the following in today and I felt it worth repeating here:

How to Live Like You are Dying

Pray

For Yourself ~ John 17: 4; Luke 22:42
For Others ~ Philippians 4:7; I John 3:11

Create Memories

Last Supper ~ Luke 22:7
Take them to the Mountain ~ Mark 9:1-8

Be a Living Sacrifice~ Romans 12:1

Take care of the people you love

Prepare them ~ John 14:1
Serve them ~ John 13:3
Provide for them ~ John 19:26-27

By doing this ~ you know how to live.

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. ~ Psalms 1: 1-3
