Registering a birth

Just got back from registering the birth of our latest CO2 producer and dearly loved daughter.

It was a simple procedure, you book an appointment within 6 weeks of the birth, turn up give a few personal details and you get given a birth certificate. It is checked against the data given by the hospital and off you go. Not sure what happens if you let nature take its course and have a baby at home with no intervention from the state.

Occupation of the mother was a tricky question... I said housewife, but that wasn't an option these days and many mothers are not a wife apparently... political correctness is nuts. Anyway I forget the exact terminology and once picked one has to choose income as "No gainful income" which seemed pretty insulting.

Anyway - job done - Millie is now a legal registered person!
