A day in the garden
According to the weatherman, the beautiful weather we have been having for the last month is about to break...
So I got as much done in the garden as I could and planted out all my remaining seedlings. I also did a few more seed trays for some of the more tender salad things like the Mexican Guerkins and purple Basil.
A beautiful female Blackbird spent much of the day following me round as I was digging. Each time I turned the earth it jumped into the hole looking for worms. At one point it came within an inch of taking a worm from my hand, but Nelson romped up and scared it away.
Its male partner was much more timid, and unusually has a small white speckled patch on its chest. I didnt manage to catch a photo of it.
Mabel and I also got some seeds planted for a little bit of the garden she has adopted called "The Butterfly Garden". She has some chairs down there with her teddies and dolls on and I dug a circular bed and edged it with bricks.
