More amazing things in the hills
I've spent the past 2 days in the tribal areas in the hills of Tamil Nadu about 2 hours from Salem.
I've met some truly amazing people from the area and some people from a company trying to help the poorest farmers I've ever come across make a better living for themselves.
It's been truly inspiring.
It's hard to know just what to post here as every bit of it is interesting. In my mind are so many things that have happened I may have to do this over several posts and several days.
So here are a few memorable pictures from moments over the last 2 days.
We sat and had a cup of tea in this shop while the power was out. While Prabha interviewed a farmer and young goat chewed at my shoe.
The women turned out in their best clothes to greet us.
The men looked on and clearly had no posh frocks to wear!
These 2 men sang to the crowd. They were brilliant. The chap on the left is clearly quite an artist and was well dressed and clean. They perform through out the area as well as farm cotton!
This song is about who they are and where they come from. They also sang to us about the evils of Liquor and HIV Aids...
A few houses have TV. Note the satellite dish.
A lovely TATA truck high in the hills. See the eyes on the front.
The exact location we were in.
More to come, including a video of the fellas singing.
