Final day in Chennai - part 2

Finally I have a chance to add a few pictures of my last day in Chennai area.

For the past 3 days I've been out of contact with anything other than SMS. I've spent 28hours on trains, 3hrs on planes, numerous hours in cars, jeeps and taxis and serveral hours with farmers, fieldworkers and company directors. A real mix. I'm tired and ready to be back at home in England. Bring it on.

Meanwhile he's some snaps...

The view from my lovely hotel room at Fisherman's Cove. Somewhere I'd love to return to on holiday.

And the view from the dinner table. The beach was about 10ft from the table. Superb.

I had some laundry done. This is how it was returned. Special touch. The service at the Taj was simply perfect. Complimentary water, fresh fruit bowl, they came and turned the bed down in the evening. And the driver drove me to the airport in white gloves with classical music playing all the way.

In the evening Prabha took me to see some carving in rock at a little town a few km away. (insert town name here). Here's some shots of them in the semi darkness.

These were amazing and done some 1400 years ago.

After looking at these we had some fresh coconut. The chap here chops the top off with a kind of axe and then pokes a straw in. Once the juice has been drunk he cuts open the coconut and using a bit of chopped off nuts scoops out the soft flesh. This was one of the most delicious things I've ever tried.

We walked some more and then headed to a superb hotel for an evening meal of Tandoori Fish. From memory it was a fish called a Pomfritt that we had. Must check that. It was lovely. While we waited for the food, the chef invited us into the kitchen to watch him make Naan bread. I'd seen it done on TV before but never first hand in a proper clay tandoor.

Here's a short video of how it was done. Once cooked it was taken cut into 4 and we ate it on the way back to the table. Superb.

After food I headed for bed, only to toss and turn worrying I wouldn't wake in time to get to the airport at 5am the next day...
