The weather girls and more
The bad weather continues....
Locally the village hall was flooded in Hinton Parva, abandoned cars are scattered about the lanes. I've spoken to multiple people who took hours and hours to get home last night. There is silt in the roads all over the place.
But these 2 don't mind!
Mabel and I headed for Swindon later on, passing these folks in their Romany (they seem to be quite common round here again now) and then headed back to my work as I'd accidentally left my drivers licence there and will need it for our holiday next week.
We crossed the Thames at Lechlade which had burst its banks. I've never seen it as bad as this even in the middle of the wettest winter. The barges look like they are still moored, and I noticed smoke was coming from the stack on one of them.
Yesterday I videoed the bridge I have to cross by the Fox Inn, the river was near to bursting... 24 hours on and its gone. The solid stone walls along the side of the road have simply been washed away. My guess is this is 200 years old at least. The river no longer cares to go just under the bridge but round it and over the road too.
We managed to get through... very slowly. What you can't see in the picture is about 10 people at the far end with a push chair, dogs and cameras. As we went through they started filming us and cheered when we reaced the other end!
