Figs and veg galore

Many things are happening in the garden now. The veg and fruit is starting to ripen. Tonight we had some runner beans, the first this season. Later than last year I am sure.

I took a few pictures to compare progress this year with what happens next.

Another lovely Courgette flower.

Some of the "runners" we had for tea.

and others yet to ripen...

We've had loads of rhubarb this year since I moved it to a new location at the shadier end of the garden.

The broadbeans are very late this year, we've not yet had any worth picking.

Our 4 apple trees all have some lovely young apples on. I've a feeling they will be ripe well before autumn. Every time I've entered my apples into the fruit and veg show in September I've won a prize. Lets hope these remain unblemished.

My figs have often won first prize in the "other fruit" section of the show. They are superb this year. If I don't get another prize this time, I'll be surprised!

I picked the last batch of gooseberries today. These are destined to be jammed.

I sat in the garden and and ate some grilled prawns, peppers, mushrooms and haloumi cheese. I love to sit out and look at all the produce that has grown from seed over the past few months.

Tonight its hot and very humid with thunder in the air... I hope it rains soon to break the oppressive humidity.

Now that is showing off!
My broadbeans have been and gone and very tastey they were!
Runners and French - I really must get out there and pick them.
Courgettes - I too have flowers but that is all it seems to do - no produce just flowers!
Figs - sooooo jealous - why wont my fig? I have followed the destructions and still no figs.
Well done Mr and Mrs Greenfingers - the garden looks fab and I quite agree - there is nothing more pleasing that sitting outside eating the things that you have grown.
