Inland Brasil

Today we set off inland by bus to the location for the farm meeting. Near a place called Quixada. The destination is what appears in the dark to be some sort of religious retreat high in the hills above Quixada.

I had no idea what to expect and as always approached the journey with an open mind and expectation that something wouldn't be as expected. I wasn't disappointed. The scheduled 2 hour journey was more like 3.5 hours and when we started going vertical I wondered if the bus would make it. It didn't! We all had to disembark and get into a much smaller bus capable of scaling the gradients and tight bends.

Once we finally arrived the sight waiting us was just amazing. Some more photos will follow as soon as I get a chance to take some.

The place we are at is some sort of religious destination, and we are all shacked up in tiny cell like rooms everyone sharing. I'm sharing with a fella called James from Peru. I've met him once before in California, so not a total stranger. But it was quite a shock to get back to my room and walk in and find someone else's stuff deposited there.

This evening's presentations were in Spanish and Portuguese so I have very little idea of the detail of what was said, not being a master of either of those tongues. Oh joy.

I am due on at around 10:30am tomorrow morning. So I've just finished my presentation and am ready to go. Poor James will have to put up with my snoring all night.

I managed to snap a few shots along the way here to give some sort of idea of what the locals live in. It reminds me of many other developing countries I've visited. It seems to be the same the world over - one has to have a satellite dish on the roof how ever poor you are. Affluenza?

The butterflies, moths and spiders are huge here. I am told that I should check my shoes in the morning! Nice.
