A busy week

Last week was a busy one. The first time I'd been in the office for 3 weeks and lots to catch up on. Liz started a job 4 days part time at Sainsbury's and I think we've officially become sub prime mortgage holders as we hit our overdraft limit again before month end. Due to the credit crunch and coming off our fixed rate we suddenly can't afford the monthly outgoings any more. There have to be ways to reduce costs...
This week also saw the start of a new employee based in India to cover the large number of customers we have out there. She was in the office for 2 weeks training here. I last saw her in Aurangabad in India back in January. I'm so pleased she is now working for us.

Later in the week my old friend and colleague came up from London to see us. I picked him up from the lovely little Kingham Station in the heart of the Cotswolds on a lovely warm spring day.

By the time Saturday arrived it was the Open Day at Helen Browning's East Brook Farm. I took Millie and Mabel by tractor to see the piglets.

We love going up to see the pigs a few times a year.

It was a lovely warm day. Liz got back from work around 7.30pm and we had our first BBQ of the year.

On Sunday, once again it was lovely. Mabel, Nelson and I headed off to the woods at Ashdown house to see the blue bells (my favourite flower). It's a long ride about 8 miles there and back over rough ground. I was very impressed that Mabel managed to do it at 6years old.

This weekend I also managed to finish getting the runner beans and dwarf french beans planted out in the garden.

Hi, Simon!

I was trying to remember where I'd seen this other post you might get a kick out of (you had mentioned that you enjoyed seeing pigs and little piglets) -- when, all of a sudden, there it was!!

Somehow or another, it seems, a little piglet got 'adopted' by a dog who had recently given birth to a litter of puppies. Several quite precious photos here, Simon.

I wish I could give you a direct link ... there just HAS to be a way to do that! (I just tried to reach my daughter, but got her voice mail. She could have given me specific instructions on how to shorten this link. Forget it. I'll just send this as it is.)

OK. Go to http://thankfulforanotherday.blogspot.com/. The specific post you want is labeled under Pets, and was published 3/31/08. The post is titled, "So cute".

Hope you can take the time to find it!

Thanks so much for that comment. Lovely to see that piglet being reared by a dog.

My own dog Nelson was reared by a surrogate mother. Sadly his real mother was unable to produce milk for some reason so her puppies were sent off to be looked after by another dog whose puppies had been killed by a car. This dog was a Scottish Terrier. By the Nelson (a Springer Spaniel/Border Collie cross) was ready for us to have he was already bigger than the "mum" who was feeding him!
