Wonderful addresses
We deal with some wonderful data at HF. Just now I've been loading up hundreds and hundreds more supplier accounts into our traceability system as we move further and deeper into more and more supply chains.
I just had to mention in passing some of the address type information I saw today. It was something like this...
Nazar Ahmeds Farm, Near the 2 Blue Gates, In the back of beyond, Somewhere remote, In a country ending in 'stan'.
Quite amazingly these are real addresses in this form. I came across something similar in India last year where an address was defined by how far it was from a river crossing or a post box or similar landmark. Makes our mandatory requirement for a postcode look a bit silly now! Glad we could drop it when it makes sense.
I love seeing this real world data being squeezed in and knowing that products on the shelves of some of the biggest retailers in the world originate in these tiny places. Hopefully soon, more of this data will be published and these farmers and primary producers can gain recognition for the wonderful job they do.
