Bishopstone and Hinton Parva Church Fete
On Saturday the Church Fete was held in the lovely gardens of Orchard House in Hinton Parva.
My Mum, Mabel, Millie and I went along. Liz was working and the other kids I think feel they have outgrown the white elephant, pony rides and bouncy castle.
A great time was had by the 4 of us. Its the first time I've been out socially for a long time and I spent the whole afternoon chatting to people I'd not seen in ages.
I bought a book from Stuart Finlay (about applying some of Churchill's wisdom to modern day business). He's been on a tour signing copies of his publication.
I also bought a Basil Mint plant. It grows like mint, but tastes and smells like basil. Magic as my Basil always gets eaten by snails and dies.
Mabel rode on ponies, old ladies served cream teas, the ballet dancers danced on the lawn, the local band jammed in the garage and people sold old books and junk from fold-up tables.
Kids jumped about on bouncy castles and people bought raffle tickets to win botles of booze on the bottle store and competed for the main prizes of meals in local pubs.

A thoroughly English affair and I love it.

hello Simon
We lived in Charlbury Cottage for just over 2 years.
Yes we were the ones with the German Shepherd that loved to bark at people. Sorry!
We love your blog. Our daughter use to help out at Charlbury Farm Stables so she saw some old friends on this video.
We were there when the roads flooded last year and remember it well.
We miss Bishopstone and would come back tomorrow!
Thank you for allowing us to still be part of it.

G'day!
Its always lovely to get comments like that. Thanks folks.
I've been all over and have yet to find anywhere I like as much as Bishopstone. I'm sitting in the sun having my breakfast on the patio as I type this to the sound of pigeons and blackbirds.
I hope that Western Australia is proving to be very pleasant too.
Simon
