The Wanborough Scarecrow Trail

Just down the road the village of Wanborough hosts an annual scare crow  trail. I don't know much about its origins or anything more about it, but I do know its been on for at least the past few years. As far as I can gather each year there is a theme and the idea is you pay for a map and an answer sheet and then find each scare crow in turn and record what it represents. This year was TV programmes. Clearly we don't watch enough TV... If you get all the right answers you win a prize.

There were 58 this year. After about 36 we'd had enough and Mabel and Millie were getting tired so we headed back home (plus I suddenly realised I'd left the gas switched on on the BBQ).

I forget what the first was, but think the next was Gladiators.

Pretty sure this was Tracey Beaker and Weakest Link.

Possibly Miss Marple, but we hadn't a clue what the fella above was.

The Flinstones and Porridge.

Strictly Come Dancing(?) and absolutely no idea.

Bill and Ben the flower pot men and Noddy.

05052008609 05052008610

Cracker Jack and Ugly Betty.

05052008611 05052008612

Captain Scarlet and ???

05052008613 05052008614

Doctor Who (obviously) and Top Gear - thats the Stig!

05052008615 05052008616

Bob the Builder and ???

 05052008617 05052008618

Postman Pat and not got a clue...??

05052008619 05052008620

A superb Time Team and Spongebob Square Pants.

Trust me that's Basil Brush by the door and Animal Magic above.

Life on Mars possibly?

There were lots more, but time ran out along with our enthusiasm to see the rest.

It was fun, and a great way to spend a lovely afternoon. I've never wandered around Wanborough and it proved much nicer than I thought it was based on my brief drives through it on the way to Swindon.

I think Liz is intending to come back and finish off the trail with Mabel and Millie one evening after school, but doubt she'll photograph the rest of them.

What a clever idea! Fifty-eight is a lot, tho. You did well to cover 36, I think. Do they give prizes for whomever has the most correct answers?

Yes. It's all for charity I believe. You hand in the finished sheet and if you've got the most answers you win!

We don't watch enough TV to know the answers..

Simon, I meant to include in my original comment that I don't think I could have identified more than two or three -- Sponge Bob Square Pants, of course, being one!

hmmm... I would have only known Fred Flintstone and SpongeBob... Guess you know what gets watched on my television!
What a great idea!
