A Ridgeway walk in October sun

Mabel, Millie, Nelson and I walked upto the Ridgeway on Saturday afternoon. Mabel took her bike and I pushed Millie in her pram. We walked up through the valley to the top and Mabel did very well scrambling through the mud on her bike.

We paused briefly for a few photos in the late autumn sunshine and all was well with the world it seemed.

Later on I was horrified to find that Mabel has whizzed off down the hill and crossed the main road through Bishopstone on her own with out waiting for me. She was very sad and apologetic when the seriousness of this incident was explained to her.

My other daughter Martha had gone with her friend Holly to London to stay overnight with my sister Lucy. Lucy had managed to get some tickets to the X-Factor TV show and was taking them as Martha's birthday treat. The rest of us sat glued to the TV waiting for them to appear on screen. Sadly we didn't see them, though we thought they may have flashed by briefly a few times.

Later on England played South Africa in the Rugby world cup final. We cheered England on but they didn't quite make it. A disallowed try could have changed the game for us but it wasn't to be. We did very well to get this far. But I feel depressed after having been convinced we could win.

What fantastic weather for October. Beth crossed our road the other day on her ownwithout waiting for me and got upset when I told her off!

We shouldn't be allowed to take part in sporting events as we disappoint a nation.
