Fungi fun
Mabel, Nelson and I headed off to Badbury Clump in search of some delicious fungi, armed with Mr F-W's finest book on the subject.
Unfortunately its been very dry for the past week or so and this seemed to have reduced what I was expecting to find in my favourite fungi place. Still we found at least 20 different species of fungi and bagged a few to bring home and identify further as I was in some doubt about which sort they were, and they could have either been very poisonous or just not very pleasant to taste.
We found some really quite big Wood Mushrooms (photo below) and a bunch of other smaller fungi.
We stumbled on what I initially thought were delicious Chanterelles but they turned out to be the less apetising False Chanterelles. We found several dried out giant puffballs but none left to eat. It was fun stamping on them!
Here's some which I've not been able to identify.
