Peeling a Rabbit

I put it off until the end of today... I hung the rabbits up outside in the cool.
Here's the process to skin the beasts.
Firstly cut the legs and arms off just above the elbows. Then at right angles to where the guts were removed slit the skin from side to side and then pull the skin down over the legs.
Once over the legs pull it free of the tail and up over the body to the shoulders. Then push the front legs through the skin turning it inside out.

Pull it further up the body to the neck. Chop off the head.
This is what you end up with.
Hugh F-W says the heart, liver and kidneys make very tasty morsels so I kept them separate.
Once I'd got this far, I chopped the rabbit into sections and here is the finished result. No more flopsy...
I've put it all in the freezer for now and will turn it into a delicious caserole tomorrow.

Yuck! No way I could eat that - reminds me too much of dissection in biology lessons! I'm with Liz on this one - much rather have the chocs!

It will be delicious.... I'll save you some!
Very pretty pictures!
Let me know how it turns out as I have a rabbit joint in the freezer which Sam and Grandad shot. Luckily I dont have to "peel" it!
Simon will be eating this on his own !!!!!!!!!!

Nothing yuck here. It's where the food comes from! (Unless you're a vegan / vegetarian)
Plus it's actually quite clean compared to commercial slaughterhouses.
I've got that teapot too...
:D
Hope you will be reborn as a rabbit and get slaughtered just for a fat man's appetite. Live and let live, idiot!
I am glad this has caused some comment. The last one I had calling me an idiot is just plain insulting and angers me.
Unless you are a vegan, you are responsible for the death of animals. Face it. Be honest about it.
If you are a vegan or serious about your comment, please post again and tell us all your reasons why you believe me to be an idiot. I'd like to hear some reasoned intelligent debate and not just read some insult thrown at me.
I remember my aunt gutting and skinning rabbits long ago, and actually, I was looking for a site talking about this, as I wanted to write it into a story, (how some-one would prepare a rabbit by hand.)
I cannot remember exactly how my aunt used to do it.
Oh, I must say, I simply stumbled on this, looking for a picture of Alfred's Castle, which, despite living nearby, I have never been to, and we were astounded by the 360 degree view; absolutely glorious and a wonderful place for the dog to actually run.
Take care.
