Swindon Music Infant Festival
Liz and I went to watch Mabel perform in the Swindon Schools Infant Music festival on Thursday evening. Mabel has been practicing her songs for many weeks and I know them off by heart from bath time sing alongs!
The theme was World War II evacuation songs. So they all dressed up as war children being evacuated with names on big envelopes around their necks, head scarfs and so on. Not all the schools entered into the spirit quite so well as our little Bishopstone school. It was lovely to see the teachers dressed up too. Ours were in bolier suits and head scarfs.
It was a lovely evening marred by the stupid policy that Swindon seems to have adopted which prohibits photography and video at such events for "child protection". I fail to see how that has any material affect on child protection and all it has done is make me feel cross with the council that I cannot share the experience with the rest of the family who couldn't be there. I booed loudly, but probably not loudly enough when the announcement was made. It makes my blood boil.
May be biased here, but I think the Bishy parents were the most enthusiastic too. We were the first to stand up and dance in the rows as the songs came round and set off the best Mexican wave! A fun evening for all.
