London calling for Ugandan visa and lack of fuel

I'm just about to head off to the smoke again on yet another visa expedition. This time for Uganda. The High Commission is in Trafalgar Square - so there'll be a picture or two of Nelson's column by the end of the day and whatever oddity there is on the "empty" plinth.

I travel to Uganda next week, so once again have left it a bit tight for getting the visa. Hopefully no delays.

There has been a fuel tanker driver strike here for the past 4 days. As a consequence I heard that 60% of the fuel stations are now totally dry. So hopefully the coach has enough fuel! With luck it will mean the roads are a bit less full.

I'm down to a couple of gallons left in the car and that means I'll be stuck at home after today until the local fuel station gets re-filled later this week. I heard today they are back to work tomorrow and then out again on Friday if they don't get the 13% pay rise they want. What chances has my local garage got of a refill in the 2 days they are back??? I heard that in some places where there is still fuel the cost has risen to £1.99 per litre! Last time I paid £1.19 - that's a staggering leap. (For those in the US - that's about $20.00 per gallon!
