White Horse Show - Uffington
Doug and I went along to the White Horse Show today. Doug was judging the stinky engines so had an exhibitors pass. Not so many engines there this time as I've seen in the past, but all the same some very interesting things to see.
I drove a pre war Bedford tip up truck which made me grin. I just got talking to the owner and his wife and they offered me the chance to drive it. I was bowled over. Fantastic, added a whole load to my memories.
Elsewhere there were some lovely old cars and motorbikes.
On the engine side there were some lovely specimens present.
Most memorable for me was standing next to a 36litre Rolls Royce Griffon engine as it was started up. These things produce in excess of 2000BHP! Video to follow soon.
Show 1 on the channel below is a video of this beast starting up.
Flying by in the sky in a micro lite was a fella who had trained herons and geese to fly with him. An awesome sight.

Seeing those old bikes makes me sad as Dad has just sold his 1972 BSA Lightning - no more old bikes in his shed now :-(
