The cotton becomes clothing

Today we went on a tour of the Pratibha Syntex factory to see how the cotton we saw growing yesterday is turned into clothing. I had never seen a factory of this type on this scale before.
The factory occupies 68acres of land and employs 3000 people of which about only 250 are women.
Pictures to come as soon as I can upload them...
One of the highlights of the day for me at least was to meet the people using the software which my company wrote. To hear the issues that they are having and their wishes for extra features and what they'd like to acheive using the tools we provide.
We discussed a project to tell a very detailed story from farm to a finished garment to fully exploit all the features that are possible with our software. Anne already has a project underway to produce a T-shirt from these sources so it looks like we'll be able to work together and show the benefits to the world. I am very excited to have a chance to do this. Between us we have pictures of just about every part of the production process.
Karan had many good ideas of what he would like to see in the product history viewer and I will discuss with him over coming weeks how we can do this.
There was also a need to integrate our system with their ERP system, so this is another project for us to work on with them. Many of the big brands are already asking for the data from our systems so it was a very exciting moment for me and made me realise just how important what we have been doing really is.
